Nike+ For Nano 6G - Unbox, Icon Detail, Tune Belt Sensor Pouch, Settings, Online Stats and Example

Gear: iPod Nano 6G, Nike+ Sensor, TuneBelt Pouch,

[since update V1.2 the Nike+ sensor is no longer required, but it may improve accuracy]

I have been using my Nano 6G for my every other day runs. I ditched my bigger Palm Pre for the Nano 6G. The current Nano 6G firmware tracks your steps, time, and estimated calorie count. If you want more details and to be able to track runs you may need to use the Nike+ sensors.

What's new with the Nike+iPod?
  • View workouts by
    • Basic by music
    • Time
    • Distance
    • Calories
  • Pace detail
  • Distance detail
  • Tracks specific music played during workouts.
  • Online statistics + social features

Tune Belt Sensor Pouch

The Nike+ shoe sensor does not come with a securing pouch. Nike sells dedicated shoes for the Nike+ shoe sensor, however you do not need to buy those shoes. The kit does not come with a securing pouch so you will have to find alternatives, the Tune Belt Pouch is one of them.

[during the video I actually inserted the sensor the wrong way, I should have flipped it]

Nike+ Settings

During firmware V1.0 and V1.1 you could only see many software extras when the Nike+ sensor was attached.

Nike+ Online Features

Alt video.

Nike+ allows you to sync your data online. You can view previous runs, your current run times, publish to social networks, and a lot more.

Little Running Example

I love walking and running to keep fit. With the Nike+ sensor it should give you a better estimate of your walks and runs.

Compatible Cardio Machines

The 6G's product page states that "In the gym, connect iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cario machine to keep track of every workout". For the Nano 6G "cardio machines" will most likely mean treadmills.

Some of the companies with this equipment include: LifeFitness, Precor, StarTrac, TechnoGym, Cybex, Matrix, FreeMotion.

B using these machines and the Nano 6G you can keep track of your workouts while in the gym and on the go.
