Gear: Ergotech Vertical Stand, HP 2509m, Dell U3011
Here's a setup which I made back when I had a lot more money than now. ;) This is a vertical setup using the Ergotech Vertical Stand and a pair of 25 inch HP 2509m monitors. In a way these 25 inch monitors were slightly too big for the stand (at least the wide bezel made them hard to fit)
By the way, the vertical thing could work, but it can be a pain in the neck (literally). Shifting eyes up and down is adviceable instead of moving your head and neck.
I'm a big fan of having two monitors, and these days it's more affordable to do. Aesthetically the vertical setup is not that good, a single big giant 30 inch monitor would be more pleasant to look at. There are pros/cons to each.
