Lenovo ThinkPad X230 Tablet - X230T Name Appears In Lenovo PDF

I can't wait to see what Lenovo does with the upcoming X230T.  :-)

Expect more news in the next month or two. Hopefully it will have improved CPU and GPU performance, faster drive speed, and improved Wacom accuracy. I am not sure if I will have the chance to test the X230T before the competition, but my next personal tablet will be either the X230T or Samsung's next generation slate tablet (the Series 7 Slate was very good). Let's hope Lenovo surprises us with some goodies!

By the way... I did make a lot of money from the X220T efforts!   $25.   I am a great salesman. ;-)

  1. Thanks Jesse. I'm looking forward to it also. Your articles on the 220t were a big factor in me having one now.

What are you expecting? Though thinner and lighter is obvious, it will be tough to improve on that by much, especially if preserving the thinkpad keyboard happens. I'd be ok with giving up a few on-board ports for some downsizing.

    1. There are a few things I am interested in. Microsoft has the advantage in active digitizer, but it seems that with Windows 8 they began chasing the iPad's finger touch. I hope Microsoft improves the finger touch + digitizer pen input in their software and the next gen tablets. Microsoft OneNote is one of the best examples of touch + pen, it would be a shame if they discarded it. The touch + pen is the main reason why I want the tablet, the power should be a given.

I have received a few messages that the Series 7 Slate with Windows 8 does NOT have palm rejection. This troubles me a lot. We will have to wait and see.

Lenovo makes very good compatible docking stations for their business machines, so I expect the X230T to have this feature. I would also give up a few ports to make the system lighter and thinner, but I do want the docking station capabilities. (6m)

    2. Agreed. One-Note is by far my favorite program ever. I like how the iphone has forced a revolution in simple software interface but like the robustness of office programs. Really hoping win8 is the convergence.

What about a detachable keyboard, like the Asus and HP tablets? I actually like how my extended battery in the x220t sticks out as a lump. I think that handle makes it easier to...handle. If the x220 was maybe 30% thinner and lighter in tablet mode then it would be an almost no-compromise convertible. For now though, walking around with it feels a bit bulky, especially compared to an ipad or something.

    3. BTW http://www.jessebandersen.com/2012/05/lenovo-thinkpad-x230-tablet-some-images.html

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablets are neat. They are slim and light, but they have a useful keyboard. I guess you could call it a convertible tablet.

The X230T looks similar to the X220T, which some people will like and others will think is outdated. The iPad and the X230T are very different machines. I think for developers the X230T is a better choice because of the software it can run. (3m)

  2. Expeculation says: i7 Ivy Bridge i7-3520M (2.9Ghz and 3.4Ghz in Turbo)... same memory cache and all the rest seems much more alike the x220t i7-2640m version and the same 12.5 screen... for those whom bough the x220t above i5, doesn't worth anything. The Integrated graphics, new keyboard and better pen input doesn't seem enough to upgrade from x220 or even, the x201t!

Lenovo MUST listen to users, put a DAMN BIGGER GORILLA GLASS SCREEN (no fudging bezel cheating) with touch + pen + OUTDOOR, larger screen and full HD resolution (I doubt they will put full HD... really do), a DAMN QUAD CORE i7 (even the CELLPHONES are getting better than this!),better speakers and at least an Optimus from Nvidia... my sisters iPad (first ver) looks sharper than my x220t screen... it feels humilating!

Well... I guess there is no much to do... we have to wait and see better processor options and perhaps a graphic card option for x230... but after the x220t hardware (MODAFOCKA DIGITIZER!) unsolvable issues and the lack of attention to important details (USB 3.0), just gonna buy next year and keep my eye on pc forums about it... Lenovo surely are everytime closer and closer to act like an average chinese product builders... cheappy and crappy...

    1. The X220T had a lot of horror stories posted in forums, let's hope Lenovo listens and improves. Later on this year we can expect lots of Windows tablets, thanks to Windows 8, and Lenovo is going to have more competition than normal. Hopefully this competition brings some quality products, and not just a variety of iPad look-alike clones.
