Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3T - Useful Portrait Tablet

The S10-3T is a good landscape system, doing things in portrait mode require changing things a bit. Sometimes portrait is useful, and sometimes it's not. Go by needs before wants. Here's a few tips that can make this system more portrait friendly.

The taskbar allows me to launch and switch programs. By modifying things around you can get some neat results, the list based system works very well.

Windows Views And Single Press Touch

Windows may give you some touch unfriendly views, but you can change them. After that you can enable single press touches to open programs and files.

Flicks are touch gestures that allows you to perform quick actions. More about Flicks.

TabTip is the virtual keyboard. In landscape mode docking TabTip is terrible, but in portrait mode it works quite well.

Firefox + Grab And Drag + FastestFox

Most things are done via browsers these days, and Firefox is my top pick. Grab And Drag, and FastestFox are two of my recommended plugins.

Foobar2000 - Music Player

Since we are in a "portrait mode" we need a music player that will display lists of music, and Foobar2000 is a good lightweight music player.

VLC - For Videos

VLC is by far my favorite video player. It can play almost every format.

Windows Journal - Easily Take Notes

Windows Journal is a good program that allows you to take notes through the touchscreen. This programs with Windows 7.

Microsoft Outlook - Calendar

Of all the calendars I tried Microsoft Outlook is by far the best Windows calendar. It is very touch friendly. MS Outlook is a program that ships with Microsoft Office. Alternatives include: Google Calendar, and Mozilla Sunbird.

Adobe PDF Reader

Adobe's PDF Reader is the kind of PDFs. As of today the program is called Adobe Reader X.

I hope that's good enough for now.
