Why You Should Own A Netbook - Troubleshooting Computers

Every computer will have problems. Some problems will be more serious than others, but most of them can be fixed from home. When your main computer goes up in flames a secondary computer comes in super handy. Netbooks are good for browsing the net to find solutions of problems, and dealing with files (downloading, and making bootable USB drives).

That OCZ Vertex 3 SSD was just too much trouble. The SSD was extremely fast when it worked properly, and very tedious when it didn't. It seems to freeze and stop reading (firmware v 2.11 improved it... but did not fix it). My HP Pavilion DV6T QE with the original 7200RPM HDD is rock steady, and my happiness level has gone up :-)

Right now I have a Fujitsu Lifebook T580, but I was considering a HP Pavilion DM1Z and the Lenovo ThinkPad X120E.

  2. This is also a good use for that old computer that everyone has lying in a closet somewhere...

  3. Having a backup computer has always been useful to me. Mostly because I play with things I shouldn't and end up messing things up. :)
