Difference Between HP Pavilion DV6T Quad And Select Editions

Of all the differences between these two the ones that I would focus on are the internal components. There are main differences that put these laptops in separate categories.

The main differences:
  • Select Edition
    • Core i5 and i7 CPUs
    • Integrated Intel HD graphics
  • Quad Edition
    • Core i7 CPUs
    • Discrete Level Graphics (AMD Radeon HD 6490M and 6770M)

Basically the Quad Edition will be a better gaming/intensive application system. The Select Edition is better suited for mostly casual things like web browsing and movie watching.

  1. BLEH! Dumb terminology!

You'd think that "select" would be the best because it's well... select. But the quad is obviously better (I mean seriously, integrated graphics on a 15 INCH LAPTOP?!?!?).

It's as annoying as the totally wonky "choice/prime/select" scale of grading meat.

  2. You mention select battery life is better. Is it significantly better or slightly better? Do you have any metrics or can you point me to a place where I can find metrics?

    1. I'm sure you can find metrics from online reviews. I would say the Select edition would have longer battery life based on the graphics card. Discrete graphics need more power than integrated.
