Gear: Logitech Z305.
One of my new year's resolutions is to remove clutter and become a bit more minimalist. I have had these huge speakers that I enjoy but they they space and collect dust. I could get rid of them and use the laptop speakers, but a lot of audio details go missing. Yes I could use my Bose AE2 audio headphones, but I don't feel like having headphones on when I'm chilling on my bed and watching a movie with my external display. So... when I saw the Logitech Z305 laptop speaker I thought "let's give this a shot". Surprisingly they deliver really good sound that fills my room incredibly well.
What's int the box:
- Z305 Speaker Bar
- Carrying Pouch
- Manual and Warranty
This is the easiest thing to install because it doesn't require downloading drivers. Windows 7 just recognizes them and sets it up for you.
If Windows 7 is giving you problems then you might have to set the speakers as default.
Hit Windows Key and type "Sound", open it
You should see a list of Playback devices
Click on "Logitech Z305" and then hit the "Set Default" button
- Very Portable
- Room filling sound
- Loud audio without "cracking"
- Stereo In port (excellent for hooking other devices like iPods)
- Light and can be attached to the screen of the laptop
- USB cable might be a bit short for some of you (get a USB male to female extension)
- It has some bass, but not "great" bass
- I wish it had a stereo out port
I wanted to remove the old JVC speaker system and with the Z305 I did it. It's been a few weeks now and I don't miss the more powerful speakers. The Z305 does the job. I removed a lot of cables, and got rid of "stuff" that collects dust so it saves me clean up time. I'm happy. :-)
Volume Down, On/Off Button, and Volume Up
The cable is about 20 inches long. The Z305 is light so it won't add too much stress to your screen.
